This
website started as a personal challenge, pursuing the goal of combining
my interest in computers and my career in Medicine. It now has grown
to include diverse sections as my programming understanding continues

The
launching of our 2nd largest project ever was a success. The fully
functional INTRANET for the University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey's Internal Medicine Residency Website

is up and running with no major bugs detected so far. The major
features it includes are:
Intranet
featured Server-side password protection, allowing access only
to current residents.
A
major work-horse message board, to improve communication among
residents and between housestaff and attendings.
Face
shots of the residents, with their respective contact numbers,
all with a MySQL backbone for reliability and safety.
Electronic
version of all our Curriculum and Written Policies, permiting
the Department to use much less paper and more e-documents, with
increased efficiency and less hassle.
Electronic
versions of our Journal Club documents.
A
calendar of events, linking activities in all the 3 academic institutions.
A
means of determining/managing our already hectic resident schedule,
via a link to Am I on Call.

This
project was a joint effort by the main authors, Alex
Khot and Andrew
Polmear and around 40 contributors. It represented a great challenge
and lots of evidence-based fun.
We have redesigned the SNIPPETS section, rewritting
the download manager, whose main innovation is the
ability to track downloads and make this information
public via a log file accesible via a link right nexto
to the file display itself.
A
new format has been given to the E-XPRESS section, now featuring
a pop up display, while cleaning up the code.
A
new baby is in the burner: A Pulmonary and Critical Care
Medicine Syllabus compiled on a CD.

Residency Program at UMDNJ is now running! So far
only 2 minor bugs have been detected and -of course-
fixed. This project represents our 2nd lar. We are
very proud to be able to make a mark at our dear teaching
institution. Many thanks go to one individual without
whom this project wouldn't be alive today, Dr. Neil
Kothari. He offered a receptive ear and continous
support throught the creation of this brain baby.

A
Perl-based htaccess password generator was installed. It
uses a simple interface and can be combined with a regular
FTP manager to restrict access to specific folders in a
website.

An
intranet will be working soon. It's designed to become a forum
for UMDNJ's Internal Medicine Program residents to share and organize
their ideas. Project is almost finished.
